A quick flight from Edinburgh to Dublin to pick up our rental car for a month of driving around Ireland, and we drove directly back into the UK to spend a few nights in the capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast.
We are glad we visited, but frankly it was a bit depressing. We took a Hop-On-Hop-Off bus to get an overview of the city, and the details of the Troubles were pretty disturbing. Even more so the fact that some neighborhoods still are fenced off and have gates that close and lock everyone in at night to keep the Catholics and Protestants apart.
