London Day Two

April 12, 2025

Our second day started with a walk to the British Museum. You do need tickets to enter, but technically it is free. You are just asked to make a voluntary donation of £5 or more.

All in all, we were not incredibly impressed with the museum. I think part of the problem was we had been to Athens and Rome, so a lot of the artifacts from those cultures were not like seeing the actual ruins themselves.

We did however see the Rosetta Stone, which was kind of cool, and I liked the Assyrian and Japan exhibits. The Egyptian section with the mummies was also interesting.

That evening we hopped on the Tube to head a little farther afield, and saw the Tower of London (old royal residence, and where the Crown Jewels are kept), the Tower Bridge, and the Shard. Also the scene of the big showdown between Mysterio and Spiderman, of course.

We crossed the Bridge and had dinner at another pub – tried to, anyway. Chatted with some ladies at the next table for a while as we were first told food service starts in a half hour, then maybe another half hour, then a bit more. The ladies gave up, but two Guinnesses later, we finally got some food. It was so late at that point, and we had so many drinks, we called a Bolt to get back to the hotel.
